Your time can change lives. At Homeward Bound of Wooster and Wayne County, volunteers are the heartbeat of our shelter. Whether you're serving a meal, sorting donations, or simply offering a warm smile, your presence helps create a space of dignity, safety, and hope.

Why Volunteer?

Ways to Help

  • Meal Service: Prepare or deliver meals for our day center or overnight guests

  • Donation Sorting: Help organize clothing, hygiene items, and supplies

  • Guest Support: Offer conversation, assist with laundry, or help guests navigate resources

  • Special Projects: Join us for seasonal events, shelter beautification, or outreach campaigns

Volunteer Daily Needs

Daily Needs include:

  • early morning- shoveling/ice melt down

  • 8am-10am cleaning

  • 10am-1pm laundry all day

  • 11am-2pm Help serve lunch

  • 2pm-4pm Organizing donations

  • 4pm-6pm cleaning

  • 6pm-8pm Food prep/dishes

  • 6pm-8pm Help serve dinner

How to Get Started

  2. Attend a brief orientation (virtual or in-person)
