Our Story
Homeward Bound of Wooster and Wayne County is a low-barrier shelter and day center committed to meeting people where they are—with dignity, compassion, and practical support. We serve individuals experiencing homelessness by offering safe shelter, daily essentials, and a welcoming space to rest, recharge, and reconnect.
Our newly renovated facility includes 44 beds—30 for men and 14 for women—and operates as a year-round day center and overnight shelter. But we’re more than a building. We’re a community of staff, volunteers, and guests who believe that everyone deserves safety, respect, and the opportunity to move forward.
We provide:
-
Emergency shelter and severe weather refuge
-
Hot meals, showers, and laundry
-
Charging stations and connection to resources
-
Trauma-informed care and a culture of belonging
Whether someone needs a warm meal, a place to sleep, or simply to be seen and heard, we’re here. Every day, we work to remove barriers and build trust—because healing begins with hospitality, and hope grows in community.
